Manufacturing process of a carbon fiber from a cellulosic fiber
Abstract
A method for manufg. carbon fibers comprises (a) impregnating a carbon fiber precursor such as a cellulose-based fiber with an ammonium chloride soln., optionally contg. polysiloxane additives and (b) carbonization the impregnated fiber by initial heating to 20 - 110° and final heating to 900 - 1,500°, whereby the formed carbon fiber is subjected to stretching during heating at 180 - 250° to ratio 1.02 - 1.05.
