The road for decarbonizing freight transport: a qualitative study of a voluntary program in France

Résumé

The role of individual supply chain actors in carbon emissions reduction (CER) is well-documented. However, it is critical to identify conditions required to develop a systemic approach for encouraging actors to share their visions and align their environmental strategy for CER. By adopting a multi-stakeholder approach this research aims to examine motivations, pressures, incentives and the transfer of sustainable practices for CER. Through a qualitative analysis, we explore the main features of a French voluntary program for CER for freight transportation and we evaluate through stakeholder interviews the existence of a shared strategy able to foster the adoption of green practices.
